I don’t consider myself a coffee snob. I’m just a girl who loves coffee. In copious amounts. And pretty strong. Not the kind of strong because the coffee has been on the heat way too long. But coffee shouldn’t look like tea. Don’t get me wrong…I love tea as well. I actually started drinking tea as a child while living in England. I didn’t start drinking coffee until I was in my 30’s. It was just easier. Everyone always had a pot of coffee on. And moving recently from the Great Northwest (where Starbucks was born) to the great state of Tennessee, I find myself living with a type of caffeine withdrawl I had never considered…Coffee Shop withdrawl. I’ve found a few Starbucks here…but that isn’t my Coffee Place of choice. They are convenient in the Northwest because there is one on about every fourth corner. Many with a drive-thru…
Some of my favorite Coffee Shops?
The Dragonfly Coffee House in Portland, Oregon is a charming neighborhood Coffee Shop. They have a deli case of sandwiches (all of the ones I have had were wonderful) and some pastries. And on Sundays they make amazing oat waffles. They’re packed. I recommend you go early.
St. Honore has a couple of locations. One is in Portland (just down the street from The Dragonfly), and the one I went to most of the time is in Lake Oswego, OR. I went there most of the time because one of my BFF’s lives in Lake Oswego and it was a good meeting place for us. This is not really a Coffee Place. It’s more of a restaurant/bakery. The food is amazing. And so is the coffee. =) This cup was during the Tour de France, hence the bicylist.
The Insomnia Coffee Company in Hillsboro and Cannon Beach, Oregon is large and comfortable and feels the way I wish my dining room felt when I have friends over. And the coffee? Well, it is on my list, after all.
So I started looking in Nashville for such a Coffee Place and a friend of mine that is here a few times a year with her hubby on business told me recently about a place on the East Side of Nashville. Not your ordinary Cofee Place.
